Simon's student's mock exam results are really bad and Simon thinks he's going to get sacked but he's not really sure he wants the job anymore anyway. However, Clare then tells him his job is going to be made permanent next term if he wants it. After changing his mind several times he decides he does want it but when Liz hands him a form and he realises he has to actually apply for it he isn't happy.
Susan's organising the open evening for prospective new parents. She's working really hard and is extremely stressed out but no-one is helping her. During the evening her husband Peter turns up and demands she leaves and goes with him to his works dinner but she refuses and walks out and has a bit of a breakdown. It looks as though she is going to be off school for some time and everyone is realy sorry for not helping her out.
Despite this, Brian is happy as it means he gets to take her classes. He gets a Psychology book and turns up the next day in a suit but then Susan comes back and disappoints him. She is ok though but she has left Peter and is moving in with Susan which annoys Simon.
Simon is annoyed when Bob has a go at him about his coursework and assigns Jenny to oversee his work for a while. But Jenny is impressed with how well Simon handles the questions about Susan from his class.
Kurt has a drink with Carol in the I.T room during the open evening and is impressed with how fast she drinks a can of lager.
