Matt arrives as Simon's replacement at the end of series 2. He quickly becomes one of the gang even though he is married with kids.
Being married doesn't stop him having a long affair with Penny and kissing Lindsay.
He is a likeable character apart from when he's made head of English when Bob has an operation. Then he turns nasty and everybody hates him.
Matt didn't return for series 4 and was apparently killed with Brian and Kurt, although no-one is sure what happened.
